What are barefoot shoes?
Shoes that:
Have a wide toe box that fits the shape of your foot
Are zero drop so the heel is not higher than the toe
Have flexible and usually thinner soles that let you feel the ground
Why does foot shape matter?
Fitting shoes to match your unique foot shape lets your feet (and everything up the chain) operate naturally as they were biomechanically designed to. If you have shoes that are too small and squish your toes, you are foot binding - it’s like wearing casts on your feet - and they can’t work properly to stabilize you while you stand and walk.
